How to Strengthen your application for the Australia PR process

Australia PR process sorts a vast number of immigration aspirants who ardently seek the coveted Australia PR visa; which allows access to living, working and enjoying social benefits in the Land Down Under. Skilled migration to Australia requires a minimum point score of 65, which is based on various eligibility criteria. To compensate for any deficiencies, aspirants can take certain steps to strengthen their application by enhancing their Australia PR points score.

Partner Skills Qualification Assessment
The primary applicant gains 5 points for their spouse/common-law partner’s Skill Assessment, provided the spouse scores minimum 6 bands in each IELTS module and the occupations of the spouse and the primary applicant are in the same Occupation Demand List.

Improving the IELTS score
By successfully reappearing for the IELTS exam, an applicant can improve their points score by at least 10 points. If one has scored 6 in each band, no points will be awarded. However, if the score escalates to 7 or 8 in each band upon subsequent attempts, the applicant can gain 10 or 20 points, respectively.

Subclass 190: State Nomination
Being sponsored by a state adds 5 points to the total score, and is a suitable option for those who fall short of points to apply through Subclass 189 (Skilled Independent Visa), or whose occupation is in demand only in specific states.

Subclass 489: Regional Nomination
If the applicant’s occupation is desirable in a regional area or a family member living in that area is willing to sponsor the applicant, 10 Australia PR points can be claimed for regional sponsorship.

Enhancing Educational Qualifications
For those who are willing and able to invest in further studies within Australia, there are avenues to significantly improve the Australia PR points by procuring specific academic qualifications. Each of the following clauses adds 5 points to the total score:

a) Australian Study Requirement – Obtaining one or more diploma, degree, or trade qualification through an Australian education institution (not online or distance) which was/were completed over two years of academic study.

b) Specialist Education Qualification – A master’s or doctorate degree by research from an Australian educational institution, awarded after at least two years of study in specified fields.

c) Study in a regional area of Australia – Applicants who have fulfilled the Australian Study requirement in a low population growth metropolitan or regional area of Australia can claim points under these criteria.

Build Relevant Work Experience
If an applicant intends to apply for an Australia PR visa in the distant future, they can capitalize on time by ensuring that their professional qualifications are relevant to their academic background, and the profession of their choosing belongs to a field that features in the Occupation Demand Lists. An applicant can make their profile more eligible by seeking relevant work experience within or outside of Australia. More years of meaningful work experience garner higher points.

Complete a Professional Year in Australia
By pursuing a 12-month professional development programme for an occupation in demand in Australia, after graduating from an Australian educational institution, one can avail 5 additional points.

Accredited in a Community Language
In order to receive 5 Australia PR points under other adaptability factors, the applicant can get certified at the paraprofessional level by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters, in a language that they offer accreditation for.

While eligibility for an Australian PR process is subject to established guidelines, planning in advance and taking extra steps to secure your application will prove significant in manifesting your ideal future in Australia.
